I made orange wine! Betsy K. - Feb 2024 - Baltimore - USA I had a lovely week with Beatrice. I chose to forgo formal lessons in favor of conversation while exploring Toulon and the region around it. Beatrice is a wonderful cook and a good guide to her region. We visited farmers markets, bakeries, wine stores and more, and I felt like a real Française. We walked along the seaside and visited lovely hidden spots. I helped her make orange marmalade and fruit wine and ate a raclette for the first time. She mentioned a friend who worked with immigrants and when I expressed interest in learning more, she connected me with her friend. I was able to visit their program which was a great addition to my week. Beatrice gently corrected my mistakes. Her home is lovely and the bungalow I stayed in was very comfortable. I had a very enjoyable week and felt that my comprehension improved. Thank you, Beatrice! A tailor-made immersion! Judy E. - June 2024 - UK I had a wonderful week with Béatrice at her lovely home in Toulon. She is a great, patient teacher with boundless energy, she has a wide range of interests and is full of amusing anecdotes and fun facts. My main issues were pronunciation and speaking. Béatrice was able to correct my mistakes without losing the flow of the conversation. I stayed in a lovely little bungalow/cabin within a beautiful garden with a swimming pool and enjoyed tasty meals, trying (and liking) foods I had not tried before. We had excursions together and I met her welcoming friends. Toulon/Hyères is a lovely area with lots of history, ancient buildings and beautiful coves and beaches. I would throughly recommend a stay at Bernice if you would like to improve your French. I made orange wine! Betsy K. - Feb 2024 - Baltimore - USA I had a lovely week with Beatrice. A very pleasant week Kathy R. - Sept 2023 - Adelaide - Australia I experienced a lovely week with Béatrice in her home near Toulon. She was welcoming and kind as well as being happy at all times to help me learn French. She has a great store of stories to tell and is very knowledgeable across a wide range of topics. Thank you Béatrice! Beatrice went "above and beyond." Tina & Gary L. - Sept 2023 - Ventura CA - USA We were looking for an immersive experience on la Cote d'Azur, and found so much more during our week at "Bernice". Beatrice went "above and beyond" to insure our visit was everything we'd hoped for and more. We felt at home in our comfortable bungalow and in their kitchen where we enjoyed breakfast, lunch ,and meal preparation after shopping at indoor & outdoor markets. We had a few formal French classes, but opted for language learning in the practical setting. She showed us beautiful beaches and sights we would not have known to explore without her guidance. Also, recommended delicious restaurants for dinner. She is adventurous and energetic with a great sense of humour. Her husband Bernard was also very hospitable and supportive. We highly recommend "Bernice" and look forward to returning . I no longer felt like a tourist Beth T. - August 2023 - WA - USA "My time with Beatrice in Toulon was delightful. She was warm, friendly, and easy to get along with. My favorite part of being with Beatrice for the week was how immersive she helped me become in the culture and language. I no longer felt like a tourist - I went to church, I went to the market, I ate dinner with friends ... all the while working and practicing my French. This was exactly the experience I hoped for - one where I was able to talk with French people casually. Beatrice helped me get connected, chat, and interact even when I was nervous. My only regret is not spending more time with her! I learned more French in my five days with Beatrice than I did in the 6 weeks I spent in France on my own. Thank you Beatrice!" A tailor-made immersion! Jim & Robin F. - July 2023 - USA Béatrice is energetic, kind, and a great French teacher. She tailored our lessons to my interests and expected social settings. She also opened doors to French history, social customs, and culture. She loves great food and bad (i.e. good) jokes. My wife accompanied me in a non-student role, and Béatrice graciously made her feel welcomed and included in our meals and outings. Béatrice's property, Bernice, is beautiful and quiet, and our cabin was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. Tout était super ! A private tour guide and spectacular excursions Laura B. - Juin 2023 - USA - TX Beatrice is a wonderful, talented teacher who was intent on providing me the exact learning/exploring program that I desired while staying at her lovely home near Toulon. Once in Toulon, I chose to have “real conversations” while “doing” rather than sitting in her kitchen with French grammar and conversation books. On our outings, Beatrice patiently answered any questions and helped me when I stumbled or was “searching” for the correct words. While overseeing my conversations, we went to the bakery, grocery and “bar” where I bought a book of bus tickets. We conversed on the road on spectacular excursions to the Ile de Porquerolles and then to quaint Collobrieres, the Chartreuse de la Vernes monastery, and Bormes-les-Mimosa. All with my own personal tour guide/driver/teacher/fun companion. Shorter outings included swimming in the Mediterranean at a nearby rocky calanque and visiting the lively market at Sanary-sur-Mer. I also had free time to explore Toulon and environs on my own. In summary, if you want to experience French culture while living like a local, exploring the beautiful Toulon/Hyeres area, and at the same time improving your French, just hope that Beatrice has an opening. The perfect place for an immersive experience! Diana V. - May 2022 - San Mateo CA - USA I have been taking one on one classes with Beatrice, and she has helped me immensely in my comprehension, understanding, grammar and all things French language. She is incredibly patient and our classes are always interesting and funny. I started as a relative novice and have been steadily improving under her guidance. Recently I had the opportunity to visit her for a few days and I can say it is the perfect setting for.a full French immersion opportunity and experiencing all that French culture has to offer. From cuisine, beaches, restaurants, petit dejeuner by the shore, the market, bicycle rides, it is the perfect opportunity to experience France in a relaxed setting. I would love to go back soon! Thank you Beatrice! I'm not afraid to speak French anymore! Olga & Vlad U. - June 2023 - Boston MA - USA Beatrice is warm, welcoming, and very resourceful! My husband and I spent a truly wonderful immersion week at Bernice. We were amazed by the beauty of Toulon, surrounding villages, and inlets. There is a safe biking trail near the house that takes you right to Toulon. I learned French while kayaking, biking, and running errands with Beatrice, which turned out the best way to fight my fear to speak French. If you want to bring your English speaking partner along, have no fear. There are many museums in the area that provide English sub-titles and guides. Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma in St-Tropez and Musée-Mémorial National du Débarquement en Provence in Toulon to name the few. Beatrice is truly flexible and bilingual: even though my husband does not speak French, he appreciated her recommendations, humor, directions, and parking tips. Meanwhile I was impressed by her targeted approach to my lessons: we worked on idioms and my most challenging grammar areas, so I came back with a much better idea how to improve my skills. I highly recommend this format of vacation!

Beatrice brings years of Teaching Experience to the Table Pascale T . USA, CA - June 2022 Owner - Bay Area French Tutor I have been referring students to Beatrice for several years. Beatrice brings years of teaching experience to the table; she tailors her classes to the goals of her students by using her own material, as well as materials from a variety of Francophone sources. Beatrice does not just teach the language; she complements the more daunting aspects of learning (e.g., conjugations or tense agreement) with lighter elements such as culture and social customs. Beatrice is patient and adapts to the learning rhythm and to the needs of each of her students. All of them are absolutely delighted with her as a teacher of French and as a person. I highly recommend Beatrice to anyone looking to learn French, whatever their goal for wanting to learn the language may be! Her humor and Patience make lessons enjoyable! Katie T. USA, CA - May 2022 I highly recommend Beatrice to anyone wanting to learn or improve their French language skills. Her ability to shape lessons based on the needs of the student, humor, and patience make lessons enjoyable.. Beatrice takes the time to answer my questions and makes connections to help build my understanding of the language. The materials she uses and the order in which she presents concepts have helped me to learn not only how to speak French but also properly write and read in French as well. I began lessons to be able to communicate with my husband’s family. I am happy with the progress I’ve made and I am confident I will be able to have meaningful conversations the next time we visit France. Thank you, Beatrice! Well versed in Grammar and Idioms! Elizabeth H. USA, CA - June 2022 Beatrice has been my French tutor for more than 2 years and during this time she has proven to be not only well versed in French grammar and its use, but also in the origin of French words and their idioms. Additionally, Beatrice draws on a variety of different teaching methods, mixing French grammar lessons and drills, French conversation and reading exercises in her tutor sessions. All of this is delivered with good humor and lots of patience. I highly recommend Beatrice as a French tutor and give her the maximum number of stars available Her excellent command of American English helps me understand French idioms. Jim F. USA - MA - July 2023 Online French lessons with Béatrice are friendly, fun and interactive in a way that no book or app could be. When we began working together, she quickly adapted her teaching approach to my interests and level of French. Lesson activities are diverse: for example, we converse spontaneously in French, we work through a chapter of a grammar workbook, we exchange jokes, I read out loud to practice my pronunciation, she answers my grammar and usage questions, or we edit a story, a business letter or any other piece I wrote in French. Béatrice is a trusted guide to French culture, history, customs, cinema, music, politics and of course language. Her advice on usage is invaluable: the intangibles like "It's grammatically correct, but French people would put it this way..." Her excellent command of idiomatic American English helps me understand French idioms in a way that books and websites don't. Above all, Beatrice is kind in making corrections and I end each lesson feeling successful and looking forward to the next one. I learned what was important to me! Amy R.. - Sep 2022 - USA I worked with Beatrice during the Covid period. I didn't know a word of French when we started. It's amazing how much I've learned in a year. I really appreciated that it didn't have a preformatted course. It was my questions and my interests that formed the framework of my learning. This was much more interesting for me because I learned what was of personal interest and which would not have been important for other people (in particular how to talk about fashion, jewelry because that's my job). Beatrice has a fabulous personality and is a great teacher. I totally recommend it A positive and encouraging teacher! Rhiannon B. - Dec. 2022 - Canada I met Beatrice in 2019 while living in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the time, I was planning to spend time in Montreal and France and wanted to develop some basic French skills. With the Covid epidemic, I suddenly and indefinitely found myself living in Montreal earlier than expected. Through the chaos and uncertainty of the pandemic, a big move with my husband, and my sudden need to get by in a French-speaking city, Béatrice continued to teach me remotely and flexibly. She always made our sessions very relevant to my goals and my daily life. Even though I often doubted my own language abilities, she always encouraged and motivated me to surpass myself, by showing me the progress I was making. I recommend her without reservation to anyone looking for French lessons at all levels. Her knowledge of language and culture, her educational resources and her individual approach make her an ideal teacher.

ONLINE CLASSES French instructor for many years, I have taught adults and students from high school and universities - from complete beginners to nearly bilingual. You can access native French instruction from wherever you are – America, Europe or Asia. More recently, I have started using a different approach based on a combination of phone and computer. This allows me to collaborate in real time with students, who are increasingly accustomed to learning online. Visio from your phone (FaceTime, Messenger or Whatsapp) allows students to see facial expressions and to focus on pronunciation while we work on a shared document.) The lessons become your course documentation; the material we view during our sessions is shared live via GoogleDocs. This allows you to read along as you take in your new interesting vocabulary. This doubles as "subtitles” in French. You can then also use these visual learning aids to study on your own. You may be assigned verb conjugation tables and various grammar exercises or a short essay as "homework" until your next lesson.
- Méjean - bungalow | Bernice
Méjean Méjean Cove can be reached on foot from the house in around 20 minutes. It is one of the locals' favorite swimming spots. The journey is already in the access to “Méjean”, you will cross a grove, walk alongside the swimming pool, pass a vineyard before arriving in the garden opposite your bungalow. Formerly called "San Francisco", it is not a blue house clinging to the hill (there's a song by Maxime le Forestier), but a pink chalet nestled in the greenery. You enter the living room which has a table and two chairs for meals, a coffee table and 3 armchairs. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, 2 induction plates and a combination microwave/grill oven. It also includes: coffee maker, toaster and kettle. The bedroom has a comfortable 160x200 bed (convertible into 2 twin beds 80x200), a desk and chair and a rack for storing clothes and shoes. A television is at your disposal. The internet connection is of very good quality thanks to a “Google mesh pod”. A large, bright bathroom with shower overlooks the garden. Have coffee or relax while reading on the porch, facing the garden ! BOOKING
